What is generation and what is recombination?

Ans: Generations can be described as the process by which the free electrons gain energy and move to conduction band from valance band. In this process hole is generated in the valence band and the number of electrons increases in the conduction band.  Recombination is a process where electrons lose energy and move back to the valence band from the conduction band.
