How many types of infinitives are there?

Ans. There are three major types of infinitives:

• To-Infinitives: Full infinitives use the base form of the verb along with ‘to’.
• Bare Infinitives: Bare infinitives are not used along with the base form of a verb.
• Split Infinitives: In case of the construction of a to-infinitive, if adverbs are placed in the middle of ‘to’ and the base form of the verb, they are referred to as split infinitives.

Apart from these, there are a few other types of infinitives- continuous infinitives, perfect infinitives, perfect continuous infinitives, passive infinitives, etc.
