  2. India and Uzbekistan have decided to further deepen their bilateral ties by signing 17 MoUs in various fields including agriculture, Tourism, combating illicit trafficking, health and medical science and pharmaceuticals.


  3. The Supreme Court of India has allowed the entry of women into the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple in Kerala. The apex court held that women, irrespective of their age, have the right to enter the temple.


  4. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting constituted the Society of Film and Television Institute of India (FTIl) Pune. Under the category PERSONS OF EMINENCE, the following have been nominated as Members of FTII Society: Yesudas, Anup Jalota, Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami, Brijendra Pal Singh, Divya Dutta, Satish Kaushik, and Archana Rakesh Singh.


  5. The Haryana government has decided to institute Kalpana Chawla Haryana Solar Award, named after the India-born US astronaut, to encourage the participation of scientists in the solar sector. The award scheme aims to create a platform for participation of women and men scientists in the solar energy sector.


  6. Health Minister J P Nadda announced that 1000 people have been benefited on the first day after the launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) The scheme was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ranchi in Jharkhand on September 23, 2018.


  7. Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma were signed as the ambassadors of Skill India Campaign to promote and endorse the Skill India Mission, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


  8. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu have been jointly recommended for this year's Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the country's highest sporting honour. If approved by Sports Minister, Kohli will become the third cricketer to get the Khel Ratna after Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.


  9. The 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from January 21 to January 23, 2019. Its theme will be "Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India". The mega event will be organised by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in association with Uttar Pradesh government. It will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Mauritian counterpart Pravind Jugnauth


  10. Asian Games gold medalist Amit Panghal has been nominated for this year's Arjuna awards by the Boxing Federation of India. He joined Sonia Lather and Gaurav Bidhuri in the list of boxing nominees for the second highest sporting honour after the Khel Ratna.
