Choppers

Choppers are DC - DC converters. They find application in modern power electronics. They are being used in dc motor speed control and other similar applications. This course is about choppers. Main classification of chopper circuits, commutation methods as well as chopper output voltage control methods are discussed. Classification of chopper circuit includes two different classifications. One is  based on direction of output voltage and current. Second one is based on input and output voltage levels. Different commutation techniques are also discussed.
