An alternative form of gauss’s law Displacement vector Energy in the electric field in a dielectric. Capacitance of a capacitor in vacuum is C= Aε/d but in dielectric medium having dielectric constant K. C'=K(Aε/d). Energy density for vacuum medium u=1/2εE^2 for dielectric u'=K(1/2εE^2) . This extra energy came from dipole dipole interaction in dielectric.
