What is OpenHouse?
To make learning more holistic and engaging, Uncademy brings OpenHouse, where learners with PLUS/ICONIC subscriptions can speak with top educators in their Goals, outside the classroom! OpenHouse allows audio interaction between educators and learners like yourself to discuss not just course-specific topics, but also other topics, such as self-study improvements, motivation, etc., which can help you improve your learning journey!

What type of queries can be asked in OpenHouse?
OpenHouse is mainly designed to enable communication between you and your educator outside the classroom. So, in OpenHouse you can ask queries around self-improvement topics, like, learning tactics, self-improvement tips, good learning habits, self-motivation, exam nerves, and so on.
I have a PLUS subscription. Why am I not able to raise a hand and speak with the educator?
We are very happy to see you excited about OpenHouse! OpenHouse sessions are aimed to build a learning environment for all Unacademy subscribers to join and learn outside the classroom, and get closer to cracking their goal! While PLUS subscribers can listen to the in-depth discussions with the educators and benefit from it, currently, they do not have any option to speak with the educator directly by raising hands. Do not get disheartened; in the future, we shall also have PLUS-only OpenHouse sessions, where PLUS learners will be able to directly speak with the educators.
How to join an OpenHouse session?
OpenHouse sessions can only be joined through the Unacademy Android learning app.
To join an OpenHouse session, follow these steps on the Android Learning app:
Once an OpenHouse session is scheduled, it will appear on your PLANNER.
Go to the session card and tap on it.
You have now joined the session. Here, you will be able to see your fellow learners who have joined the session as well, and the educator(s) who are hosting the session.
How can I ask queries in OpenHouse?
To be able to ask queries in an OpenHouse session, you will need to have an active ICONIC subscription. If you are a PLUS subscriber, you can only join the OpenHouse session and will not be able to ask any queries.
To ask queries in an OpenHouse session, please follow these steps (only for ICONIC subscribers):
Upon joining the session, you will see a ‘Raise Hand’ button. Tap on it to raise your hand.
The Educator will be able to see your raised hand. If chosen to speak, the educator will send you an invitation. Tap on the Accept & speak option.
You can now directly interact with the educator. Please remember to turn on your microphone before speaking!
Through the course of interaction, you can choose to mute or unmute yourself as well. Just tap on the mute/unmute button placed at the bottom-center of the screen.
What are the types of OpenHouse sessions available?
There are two types of OpenHouse sessions available:
For PLUS & ICONIC subscribers: This type of OpenHouse session will be visible and accessible to both PLUS and ICONIC subscribers. However, only ICONIC subscribers will be able to raise their hands and interact with the educators. Plus subscribers will only be able to join the session.
For only ICONIC subscribers: This type of OpenHouse session will only be visible and accessible to learners with an ICONIC subscription. PLUS subscribers will neither be able to see such sessions on their PLANNER nor join it.
Will I be notified of future OpenHouse sessions?
Yes. You will be able to see all scheduled OpenHouse sessions in your PLANNER and will receive notifications 15 minutes before the start of each session as well on the app.
Can I record/get a recording of the OpenHouse session?
No, OpenHouse sessions cannot be recorded. Recording of the OpenHouse sessions is against the community guidelines and will result in a permanent block from the entire Unacademy platform.
Can I minimize the OpenHouse session screen?
Yes, you can minimize the OpenHouse session by clicking on the downward arrow icon at the top-left corner of the screen.
Can I watch another class while listening to the OpenHouse session through the minimized screen?
No, you will not be able to watch another session as long as you have joined the OpenHouse session. To be able to watch other classes, you will have to leave OpenHouse.
How to mute/unmute my microphone in an OpenHouse session?
If invited to speak with the educator, you can mute or unmute your microphone as required during the interaction. To do so, tap on the Mute/UnMute button at the bottom-center of the screen.
Why can't I view the OpenHouse session in my PLANNER?
If you are unable to see an OpenHouse session in your PLANNER, it could be because:
You are a PLUS subscriber and the OpenHouse session you are trying to view is only for ICONIC subscribers. Such sessions are not available to PLUS subscribers.
You are trying to access the OpenHouse session through Unacademy web or iOS, and not through the Unacademy Android Learning app. OpenHouse sessions are only available on the Unacademy Android Learning app.
Your Unacademy Learning app is not updated to the latest version. Please update your app.

Why is my friend able to view the OpenHouse session, but I am not?
If your friend is able to view the OpenHouse session in their PLANNER but you aren’t, it could be because:
You are a PLUS subscriber and your friend has an ICONIC subscription, and the OpenHouse session is only for ICONIC subscribers.
You are trying to access the OpenHouse session through Unacademy web or iOS, and not through the Unacademy Android Learning app.
Your Unacademy Learning app is not updated to the latest version. Please update your app.
You and your friend are subscribed to different Goals.
