In this lesson, we begin by defining a market. Then we move on to the significance of weekly and Tribal markets. We learn how colonialism affected Tribal Markets. Then we consider how markets implement social hierarchy traditionally. Then we talk about the business communities of India

Lesson 1: The Sociology Of Market

In this lesson, we link Indian markets and Colonialism. We then talk about what Karl Marx thought about markets and why he criticized capitalism. Then we learn about the concept of Status Symbols given by Max Weber. We then move to talk about what is Globalization and what are the real life examples of impact of globalisation on Indian markets. We then will move to the liberalization drive of 1990s and its impact

Lesson 2: International Access To Indian Markets

In this lesson, we will learn about Social Inequality, social capital, social Stratification. We then will justify how social Stratification persists across generations. Then we learn main characteristics of Social Stratification. Then we learn about the concepts of Stereotypes, Prejudice and Discrimination.

Lesson 3: Social Inequality

We learn about Social Exclusion and its impact. Then we see the role of Caste system and untouchability in discrimination. We learn about the various terms used to address the SCs and the context of each of those terms. Wr then ponder upon what the government has done to address discrimination.

Lesson 4: Social Discrimination

In this lesson, we begin by learning who are OBCs, who are Adivasis and how their rights were repressed.

Lesson 5: OBCs And Adivasi Struggles

In this lesson, we learn about what is gender Inequality, what type of discrimination is it.We then ponder upon why the term Middle class reform movements was used, and the contribution of Raja Rammohun Roy and Jyotiba Phule. Then the status of differently abled in India and how it is linked to poverty.

Lesson 6: Women And Differently abled In India

We learn about the role of Socialization agencies in communally aggression and why are they inevitable. Then we learn about the role of community in aggression. We then learn about communal diversity in India
