This course consists of seven lessons where I will first teach the terms associated with Emile Durkheim's theories, then move on to theories like Social facts,  Division of Labour, Suicide, Religion and Society and towards the end will be doing the critical analysis of Durkheim's theories.

This lesson will throw light on the terms that are associated with Emile Durkheim's theories, because understanding the terms before we move forward to learn the theories makes things easy for both the learner and the teacher. These terms form the basis of Durkheim's theories.

Terms Associated with Emile Durkheim's Theories

This theory of Social facts is the main theme of all Emile Durkheim's theories. By understanding what is Social facts we will able to grasp all the theories of Durkheim because all this theories move around Social facts and it is  the principal and indispensable character.

This theory of Division of labour, an important contribution by Emile Durkheim, towards understanding the relationship between the individual and the society, it explains how the concept of solidarity changes as the society evolves from a Traditional simple  society to a complex industrialised society.

A monumental piece of work by Emile Durkheim, this theory on Suicide, was considered path breaking because Durkheim used empirical research to study the theory of Suicide. In this lesson we will try to find out the causes of suicide  and the the classification of suicide according to Durkheim.
