Stamen- the male reproductive structure of plants has two parts, anther and filament. 
Anther contains the pollen and filament acts as a stalk connecting anther to the thalamus or petal.

Microsporogenesia is the process of formation of pollen grains. Pollen grains represents the male gametophyte of angiosperms. 

This process results in formation of microspore tetrad from every microspore mother cell.

Pollen grains are the male gametophyte. Each microspore mother cell gives rise to 4 pollens.

Pollens have thick cell wall composed of exine and intine. And each pollen consists of two cells, vegetative cell and generative cell.

Pistil is the female reproductive structure which consists of stigma, style and ovary. The ovary contains ovule or megasporangium.

Megasporangium is the process of development of megaspore from megaspore mother cell. Eventually megaspore develops into the female gametophyte i.e. the embryo sac.

Megasporogenesis

Pollination is the process of transferring of male gametes i.e pollen to stigma. It is carried out by different agents of pollination.
Pollination can be classified based on source of pollen and agent of pollination.
Based on source of pollen, it can be autogamy, geitinogamy or xenogamy.

Pollination (part 1)

Classification of pollination based on agent of pollination can be by  either biotic or aboitic agents.
Abiotic agents include wind and water. These are not very preferred mode of pollination. Most plant use biotic mode for pollination.

Plants prefer boitic mode of pollination over aboitic mode. Many animals are available for this mode of pollination but the most preferred are the bees.
Flowers that are pollinated by biotic agents have special adaptations to attract the agents.

Pollination ( Part-3)

Outbreeding devices are methods developed by plants to prevent self pollination and promote cross pollination. There are a total of 5 such methods.

Pollen pistil interaction refers to all the events that happen from the landing of pollen till the time it germinates and enters the ovule.

Artificial hybridisation is the process of artificially pollinating a desired pistil with pollens of choice so as to produce genetically superior hybrids which are better than bother the parents.

Fertilisation occurs twice in plants. One between egg and male gamete and another between polar nuclei and male gamete. Since there is two fertilisation occuring, fertilisation in plants is called as double fertilisation. Result of double fertilisation is a zygote and PEN

Events of endosperm and embryo development, maturation of ovules into seeds and ovary into fruits are collectively called post fertilisation events.

Post Fertilisation Events (Part 1)

Embryo develops at the micropylar end of embryo sac. Embryogeny is the initial stage if embryo development which is same for both dicot and monocot.
Monocot embryo has single coteledon while the dicot embryo contains two coteledon. 
Coleorrhiza and coleoptile are two additional structures seen in monocots which are not present in dicots.

Post Fertilisation Events (Part 2)

Flower is the reproductive organs of plants which has androecium and gynoecium. Stamen is the male structure and pistil is the female reproductive structure.
Pollination results in the transfer of pollen to the stigma which is followed by a number of events called as the pollen pistil interaction. 
Fertilisation in plants is called double fertilisation which is an unique feature in flowering plants.
Events that follow fertilisation are the post Fertilisation Events which include development if endosperm, embryo , seed and fruit.

Introduction To Course

Seeds are product of Fertilisation. It is often called as fertilized ovule. Seeds can be albuminous or non albuminous based on residual endosprem.
The integuments of ovule harden and develops in seed coat.
As ovule develops into seed, ovary develops into fruits. The wall of ovary develops into wall of fruit called as pericarp

Post Fertilisation Events (Part 3)

Summary of complete course.
Flowers are the seat for sexual reproduction.
Male reproductive organs are represented by androecium and the female reproductive organs are represented by gynoecium.
Double Fertilisation is an unique event that occurs in plants.
In the post Fertilisation Events the endosperm is formed which is followed by development of embryo from zygote. Ovary develops into fruits and the ovule develops into seed.
