In this lesson, we will learn about the contribution of Mohammed Iqbal to religious reforms, the reform movement among Sikhs and Parsis.Reaction of the orthodox to the reformers, the overall impact of these reforms and the negative points.

In this lesson, we will cover the following topics:
1) Swami Dayanand and the Arya Samaj: In this, we will learn about their inspiration, principles and contribution
2) The Theosophical Society and Annie Besant: Their principles and contribution
3) Saayid Ahmed Khan and the Aligarh School: Importance of Quran, Principles, Approach to Western education, work for women

Lesson II: Important Reformers and their Contributions

In this lesson 'Brahmo Samaj', we will learn about the social and religious backdrop which arose the reform movement and the people who are greatly remembered for their contribution in this field. How did they impacted the country? How did their efforts remodelled Hinduism? How did their efforts impact the caste system? Why did the Brahmo Samaj not become a national movement? We will answer all these questions in the lesson, and then discuss briefly about the Prarthana Samaj and Swami Vivekananda.

Lesson I : Brahmo Samaj

In this lesson, we will learn how education impacted the way people looked at women, how the national movement helped their cause, how the ideas of the reform movement get a final shape in our Constitution. We will get a deeper look into the social and financial life women were leading in India. We will then see how the national movement open golden opportunities for them. Then we will discuss the constitutional provisions for women and their role in society and govt after independence.

Lesson IV: Social Reforms for Women

In this lesson, we will learn how caste system divided the Hindus, how it was negatively affecting the social life of the downtrodden, then we proceed to learn the impact of Colonialism on the caste system. Then we will learn how the national movement opened avenues for them and how Mahatma Gandhi worked for the cause of the people of the lower caste. Then we will see how education impacted the thinking of people, and how the ideas of the reform movement finally got shape in our Constitution.

Lesson V: Struggle against Caste

This is a brief overview of the course where we talk about the topics and subtopics that will be subsequently discussed.
