Speech consists of sentences and sentences consist of words. In linguistics, each word is called a part of speech. 
There are eight parts of speech: Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Articles, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, and Conjunctions.

Basic Introduction of Part of Speech

Nouns are perhaps the most important part in English Grammar. A noun is a word that identifies a person, animal, place, thing, or an idea. As for nouns in sentences, they establish the topic of the communication and, in their object role, provide information about outcomes, relationships and so on.
