An overview of the entire course. In  the upcoming videos we would cover the historical background of Europe where the war originated and a background of the main players that took part in the war. Also we would see what were the origins of the war with the events and crisis that led to the outbreak of the war. Then the course would take up the happenings from 1914-18 when the war took place and the aftermath of the war.

Overview

A small historical background about Europe in regard to industrial revolution and democratization. Also a brief description about the political systems of the nations that took place in the First World War and a discussion about the then locations of the countries and how they look now in the world map.

Historical Background

The first video for the origins of the First World War will take up imperialism, the crazy lust to bring more countries under the empire as colonies, to gain power and profit. We will also find the driving force behind imperialism and what is 'Scramble For Africa'.

Origins of the War - Part 1

The video will move forward from Imperialism and Nationalism and will talk about other origins of the war like the Alliance system and growing military of the nations. When and why the alliances were formed or what treaties were signed will be discussed here. 
MAIN is one acronym, a way to remember the major origins of the First World War.

Origins of the War - Part 2

The video takes up major events and crisis that took place from 1900 to 1907 that led the world to the brink of the war. The video will talk about the most daring plan of Germany, Schlieffen Plan and would also talk about Moroccan Crisis with technological advancements in Naval area of the two empires.

Events 1905 - 1907

The lesson covers the Bosnia Crisis of 1908 and Agadir Crisis of 1911 that again pushed things further and made the world on the verge of the world war. With this a little explanation would be there in lesson about Austro-Hungarian empire and Bosnia Herzegovina.

Events 1908 - 1911

The lesson will explain the Balkan region and the two wars that were fought due to the Balkan region. The wars were First Balkan War of 1912 and Second Balkan War of 1913. Then we will get to know about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was next in line for the throne of Austro-Hungarian empire and how this became the immediate cause of the War.

Events 1912 - 1914

This was the beginning of the First World War and multiple battles were fought in this one year. It proved that war would not end in few months like people anticipated but would go for four long years. The video will take up what happened in the western front and eastern front of the German borders in 1914. The year, 1914 was the beginning of Trench Warfare and Naval rivalries, which will be discussed in this video.

First Word War - Part 1 (1914)

The video takes up the year 1915 and talks about Zeppelin Raid, Lusitania, Italy's entry in the war but as an Allied Power and the situation of Stalemate in the Western Front. The lesson also talks about battles fought by Russia against Austria-Hungary and Germay, Gallipoli Campaign and the entry of Bulgaria in the eastern front.

First World War - Part 2 (1915)

The year 1916 of the First World War witnessed two battles that were the most bloodiest battles fought in the war. The battle of Verdun where Germans launched a massive attack on France's last few fortresses and Battle of Somme where British army attacked in order to help the French army. Between these two battles, Battle of Jutland was also fought between the British and German Naval army. The lesson will also cover the Brusilov Offensive, considered to be the most successful offensive conducted by Russians in the First World War.

First World War - Part 3 (1916)

The video takes up the year 1917 of the First World War and talks about Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. It also discusses different battles and Nivelle Offensive of the year 1917 with Russian withdrawal from the war and the entry of the United States of America from the Allied side.

First World War - Part 4 (1917)

The video deals with the last year of the First World War i.e. 1918 and talks about the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk signed between Russia and Germany. Also the videos discusses the final German Offensive to win the war, Allied counter-offensive and finally the 14-Points by the then US President Woodrow Wilson.

First World War - Part 5 (1918)

What happened after the war? The video will discuss the aftermath of the war and will focus primarily on the internal situation of the countries that fought in the war (Central powers and Allied Powers).

Aftermath of the War

This is the second part of the Aftermath of the war. The video will move from Europe and will talk about non-European nations who took advantage of Europe's condition. It will also talk about African countries that remained colonies.

Aftermath of the War - Part 2

The video discusses about the Treaty of Versailles, the background or the process under which the Treaty was made and also the terms of the Treaty that made it so controversial. With that the video also talks about other treaties that were signed like the Treaty of St Germain and Treaty of Trianon.

Predecessor of the United Nations, League of Nations came into existence in 1920. The last video of the course will go through the features and composition of League Of Nations and would also talk why League of Nations was seen as a failure and how come it was not able sustain its authority.
