Course Overview (In Hindi)

Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq became the Delhi Sultan in 1320. 
 Within his brief reign, he subjugated nearly the whole sub-continent. The Tughlaqs now controlled the Indus Valley, Ganga Plains as well as Deccan and the southernmost tip of India.

It was extremely difficult to consolidate and manage such a vast Sultanate.

This was worsened by the impractical and rash decisions of Muhammad-bin Tughlaq.

The Early Tughlaqs (In Hindi)

One of the greatest Hindu empires ever, Vijayanagara dominated the peninsular India for more than two centuries.

It came into existence in 1336, after the declaration of independence from Delhi. It was founded by two brothers Hakka and Bukka, by the inspiration of Vidyaranya.

The Birth of Vijayanagara Empire (In Hindi)

Bahmani Sultanate was the main rival of Vijaynagara. Bahamanis dominated the northern Deccan for more than two centuries, or perhaps three centuries, if we count their successor states too.

These two powers held the peninsular India for more than two centuries.

In this lesson, we will cover :
1. The Musunuri Nayaks
2. Hasan Gangu
3. The Bahamani Sultans up to 1422

The Birth of Bahmani Sultanate (In Hindi)

Firoz Shah Tughlaq was the longest reigning monarch of the Tughlaq Dynasty.
He left many legacies which can be witnessed even today.

The Sultanate under the Tughlaqs was constantly on decline after the death of Ghiyasuddin in 1325. Yet, Firoz tried to slow the process, however committing more blunders.

The sultans after Firoz were utterly incapable to earn any mention. 

Finally Timur invaded and decapitated the remains of the realms of this dynasty.

The Later Tughlaqs (In Hindi)

Timur was one of the greatest warlords of all times.
Although he was not a descendant of Genghis Khan, he tried to establish the legitimacy to expand his empire.

Timur and his exploits are usually avoided while studying the Indian history. But it is necessary to know about him and his campaigns if we really want to understand the true nature of future Timurids or the Mughals.

The fourth dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, did not have much to be mentioned except its first ruler, Khizr Khan.

Khizr Khan acted as a viceroy of Timur. Although he was a sultan himself, he did not declare sovereignty and remained associated with the Timurids.

However his successors became sultans in their own right.

Yet, the Sayyid Dynasty did not last long, just 37 years, and evaporated without leaving any mark.
