Course Overview : Electric Current in Conductor (in Hindi)

Drift speed of electron defined by drift distance of electron divided by average collision time between successive collision.drift speed Vd is directly proportional to applied electric field inside the conductor.current density (j) = n Vd e where n is no of electron per unit volume, e electrostatic charge.

Ohm’s law and colour code of resistor: in this lesson you learn about basics behind ohm’s law.  Derivation of ohm’s law. Colour code of resistor etc. resistivity and conductivity . Conductance of conductor.

Temperature increases resistivity of conductor increases.in case of semiconductor temperature increases resistivity decreases . So in semiconductors temperature increases Current increases . Hence small variation of temperature detected by current variation, such a device is called thermometer. Temperature coefficient of resistivity of a semiconductor is negative . In superconductors below critical temperature resistivity suddenly becomes zero. At room temperature this critical temperature not achieved .
125 K is still achieved for some material.

In this lesson we have discussed about battery and EMF . battery is responsible for mentaining potential difference between two terminals. these two terminals are called positive terminal and negative terminals . positive terminal is made by accumulation of positive charge and negative terminals made by negative charge . battery force acting on positive charge in the battery solution . Work done by battery is equal to battery force multiply distance between plates for charge Q ,this work done per unit charge is known as electromotive force(EMF). In steady-state battery force is equal to electric force acting on charge Q within the battery hence EMF in a steady state is equal to potential difference between the plates. Positive charge Q came out from positive plate go through wire ,then came to negative plate and finally came to   positive plate by battery force in this way steady-state current mentained in the circuit. Discharging of a battery when  battery supply positive charge in the outer circuit and charging of a battery in which positive charge comes in from positive plate to the battery and came out through negative plate of the battery.

Battery and EMF (Hindi)

In this lesson we have learnt about heat generation in resistor and potential energy loss of the battery heat generation in  resistor depends on square of the current and proportional to the resistance and also proportional to the Time duration of circuit operated.  rate of loss of sheet is power  dissipated through resistor is equal to potential difference multiply current flow  in the circuit. Loss of potential energy(U= qV) is appear as heat generation in resistor (H=i2Rt)

Energy Transfer in an electric circuit (in Hindi)

In this lesson about internal resistance of a battery.when we neglect internal resistance (r) then battery is called ideal battery. Then potential difference between the terminals of a battery (V) = EMF of the battery(psi). In open circuit condition. For ideal battery also in closed circuit p.d is equal to EMF. For non ideal battery it is a combination of ideal battery + resistance. Then potential difference =psi(e)-ir that is less than the EMF. Then for current i flow for time t heat developed in battery (H) = i2rt.

Internal Resistance of a Battery (in Hindi)

In this lesson we have learn about kirchhoff’s junction and loop laws based on sum of current coming in at the point and some of potential difference total sum of current at any Junction is equal to 0 and sum of total potential difference in a close Loop is zero .loop law based on conservation of electrostatic energy because electrostatic force is the conservative force and in a Conservative force ,for work done in a close look loop is equal to 0. Junction law based on conservation of charge.

Kirchhoff’s law (in Hindi)

Combination of resistors in which we have learned about series and parallel combination. in series combination current flow in each resistor is equal. In parallel combination potential difference across each resistor is equal.Equivalent resistance in series is greater than individual resistance and in parallel equivalent resistance is smaller than smallest one. In resistor branch flow of current is inversely proportional to resistance.

Grouping of batteries in this lesson we have learnt about combination of batteries that is series combination and parallel combination. In series combination equivalent emf is addition of individual emf and equivalent internal resistance is addition of individual resistance of the batteries.hence equivalent emf and resistance is greater than any individual . In parallel combinations equivalent emf is sum of the ratio of individual emf by resistance divided by sum of reciprocal of resistance.equivalent resistance same as in case of parallel combination of resistance.that is final emf is equal to individual but resistance decreased by n times for n batteries.

Grouping of Batteries (in hindi)

It is a combination of 04 resistance ,R1,R2,R3&R4 such that R1,R2 in series making one branch and R3,R4 making same other branch ,then both branch is in parallel to each other . Now between these two branch in Center connects galvanometer to Measure current flow. If there is no current flow in galvanometer we say that this a balanced Wheatstone bridge. In this condition follows R1xR2=R3xR4.this combination use to measure resistance of any one among four resistance.

Ammeter and voltmeter (in Hindi)

Stretched wire potentiometer is an ideal voltmeter. It consists of 2-5 meter long wire, a cell and variable resistance these are internal parts of potentiometer. By vary jockey of galvanometer on wire we set potentiometer in Azeri deflection conditions. Then at this balanced situation we can able to measure potential difference between thr points in an external circuit. Details calculation and basic concepts are discussed in this lesson.

When capacitor connected with cell, then potential difference between plates of capacitor is equal to emf of cell. The whole process(charging of capacitor ) takes some time. Theoretically capacitor fully charged in t= infinity. q(t)=Q(1-e^-t/RC) this The equation of charge deposits on positive plate w.r.t is q(t). Time constant(tau)=RC sec.63%of charge deposited in one time constant. Similarly when cell is removed and charged capacitor now connected across a resistor then discharging of capacitor start . Then  q(t)=Qe^-t/RC charge remaining on capacitor. This shows that 63% of charge discharge in one time constant.

Top layer of atmosphere of conducting nature is about 50 km above earth surface. Electric field between top layer and surface is 100V/m. Potential of top layer of atmosphere is 400KV. Earth surface  is negatively charged <1nano coulomb per square meter. Thunderstorm is a packet of air,water drops and ice particles. Air particles ionised by Cosmic rays . These ions creation  and thunderstorm stroke still going on in atmosphere which maintains potential difference of 400 KV between earth surface and top of atmosphere. Clouds makes 3-4km above the earth surface these clouds spread about 7-8 km and thickness about 3km. Clouds upper part excess positively charged and Lower particle excess negative charge which create electric field in clouds of 20to 100MV. This high field sufficient to electric breakdown of air and hence lightining  will occurs then -be charge moves to earth surface and positive charge go up to top atmospheric surface . And hence earth surface maintained at -Ve charge. In clear sky + ve charge go to earth surcease and - ve charge go to atmosphere. 5sec will take to make thunderstorm.
