The lesson deals with the basic concepts and introduction to heat transfer. It signifies the physical mechanisms of different modes of heat transfer and the basic laws that govern the process of heat transfer in different modes.

Chapter 1: Introduction and Basic Concepts

This lesson deals with the derivation of heat conduction equation. It also discusses the concept of thermal diffusivity.

Chapter 2: Steady State Heat Conduction-Part 1 (Heat Conduction Equation)

This lesson deals with the other forms of heat conduction equation. It also discusses about the 1 dimensional heat conduction through plane walls, cylinders, multilayered walls etc.

Chapter 3: Steady State Heat Conduction-Part 2

This lesson deals with the rest of the concepts of heat conduction in steady state. The multilayer cylindrical walls, concepts of critical thickness of insulation has been discussed in this lecture.
