Path of Contact . This is the third lesson in this course and in this lesson we try to understand what the path of contact is and try to derive a numerical expression for this . We use simple trigonometric functions for our calculations and arrive at a rather simple relation that will give us the value of path of contact directly. It will be helpfull if you memorize the relation directly so you can use it directly in problems .

Arc of Contact. The fourth lesson in this course of Gears  . Here we try to find the radial path that is traced out by a point on the gear and check if there is any relationship between the arc  of contact and the path of contact. Towards the end we derive an expression for the number of teeth that my be involved in engagement . A few similarities between the two contact locus have  also been discussed in this lesson.

Interference in Involute Gears . In this lesson we deal with a very important theoretical concept that is the interference in gears . We first see what the concept means and try to understand why it takes place and what is the limiting condition for such a phenomenon to take place . After the theoretical approach we deal with a numerical advance to the concept and to try derive an expression for the minimum number of teeth in a gear that will prevent interference . A few extra points that you have to keep in mind have also been mentioned .
