Lesson is on the basic introduction of carboxylic acids. The structure of carboxylic acid and carboxylic group is explained and the applications of carboxylic acid derivatives are introduced by refering the examples.

Lesson describes the structure, resonance structure, nomenclature, the acidity and acidity order of the carboxylic acids in detail.

2. Structure, Nomenclature and Acidity Of Carboxylic Acids

The various methods involved in the preparation of Carboxylic acids are described. Mainly preparation of carboxylic acids from grignard reagent and from primary alcohols and aldehydes is briefly explained.

3. Preparation of Carboxylic Acids : From Grignard Reagents and From Primary alcohols and aldehydes

Brief information of preparation of carboxylic acids from hydrolysis of nitriles and amides is provided in this lesson by considering the example and detailed mechanism of that particular reaction.

4. Preparation of Carboxylic Acids : From Nitriles and Amides

Lesson involves methods of preparation of carboxylic acids from hydrolysis of esters by observing the particular reaction and detailed mechanism.

5. Preparation of Carboxylic Acids : From Hydrolysis of Esters

Brief explanation of decarboxylation reaction is provided in this lesson by considering the examples and also step by step mechanism of that particular reaction is observed.
