In Lexical Analysis, the source code is scanned character by character and grouped into tokens (keywords, identifiers, constants, etc.) using patterns defined by regular expressions. The Lexical Analyzer generates tokens, eliminates comments and whitespaces, and detects lexical errors like illegal characters.
