This lesson will help understand the meaning of food, its classification in terms of keeping quality, making selection, purchase and storage of food easy and without spoilage. This lesson also talks about meaning and need of having a balanced diet. It deals with the concept of nutritional requirements and ICMR's recommended dietary allowance and different food groups.

This lesson will help learners to select, purchase and store food properly, i.e, without spoilage. 
Knowledge of selection and storage of food is very important so as to prevent spoilage amd wastage of food. This lesson also tells about the various factors that affect selection and storage of food. Along with some tips for storing some common foods.

This lesson will help understand the meaning food spoilage,  its causes, meaning of food preservation, principles involved in preserving food and the different methods of food preservation.
