पृथ्वीवरील सजीव सृष्टी टिकून राहण्यासाठी व त्यांच्या मूलभूत गरजा पूर्ण करण्यासाठी हवा,
पाणी व जमीन हे घटक महत्त्वाचे आहेत. यांना नैसर्गिक संसाधने असे म्हणतात.

Natural Resources Part - 1 (in Marathi)

ओझोनचा थर - संरक्षक कवच
वातावरणाच्या स्थितांबर या थराच्या खालच्या भागात ओझोन (03) वायूचा थर आढळतो. ओझोन वायूचा सजीवांना जगण्यासाठी प्रत्यक्ष उपयोग नसला तरी खूप उंचीवर पृथ्वी भोवती ओझोनचा थर असणे सजीवांसाठी फार महत्त्वाचे आहे. सूर्यापासून येणारी अतिनील किरणे सजीवांसाठी हानिकारक असतात. ही किरणे ओझोन वायू शोषून घेतो. त्यामुळे पृथ्वीवरील सजीवांचे रक्षण होते. 
वातानुकूलन यंत्रे, रेफ्रिजरेटर्स यांमध्ये हवा थंड करण्यासाठी वापरला जाणारे क्लोरोफ्लुरोकार्बन्स तसेच कार्बन टेट्राक्लोराईड हे रासायनिक वायू हवेत मिसळल्यास ओझोनच्या थराचा नाश होतो. 
ओझोनचे महत्त्व सर्वांच्या लक्षात यावे यासाठी १६ सप्टेंबर हा दिवस जगभर ‘ओझोन संरक्षण दिन ’म्हणून मानला जातो.

Natural Resources Part - 2 (in Marathi)

मृदा तयार होण्याची क्रिया
जमिनीवरील मृदा ही नैसर्गिक प्रक्रियेतून निर्माण होते. मूळ खडकाच्या अपक्षयातून मृदेसाठी अजैविकघटकांचा पुरवठा होतो. 
ऊन, वारा व पाऊस यांपासून निर्माण होणाऱ्या उष्णता, थंडी व पाण्यामुळे मूळ खडकांचेतुकडे होतात. त्यां पासून खडे, वाळू, माती तयार होते. या घटकांमध्ये सूक्ष्मजीव, कृमी, कीटक आढळतात.
उंदीर-घुशींसारखे कृदंत प्राणीही आढळतात. तसेच जमिनीवरील झाडांची मुळेदेखील खडकाच्या अपक्षयासमदत करतात. मृदानिर्मितीची प्रक्रिया मंद गतीने सतत सुरू असते. 
परिपक्व मृदेचा २.५ सेमीचा थर तयारहोण्यासाठी सुमारे हजार वर्षे लागतात.

Natural Resources Part - 3 (in Marathi)

वाढीसाठी अन्नाची आवश्यकता वनस्पती सूर्य प्रकाशात स्वत:चे अन्न स्वत: तयार करतात. जमिनीतील पाणी, पोषकतत्त्वे आणि हवेतील कार्बन डायॉक्साइड यांच्या साहाय्याने अन्ननिर्मिती करतात. ही प्रक्रिया वनस्पतींच्या पानांमध्ये होत असते.
पानांमधील हरितद्रव्याच्या मदतीने सूर्य प्रकाशात ही प्रक्रिया होत असल्याने या अन्ननिर्मितीच्या प्रक्रियेला प्रकाशसंश्लेषण’ म्हणतात. 
या क्रियेमध्ये वनस्पती ऑक्सिजन वायू बाहेर टाकतात.
वनस्पतींमधील हरितद्रव्यामुळे त्या प्रामुख्याने हिरव्या रंगाच्या दिसतात.

सजीव स्वत:सारखा दुसरा जीव निर्माण करतात. 
काही सजीव पिलांना जन्म देतात, तर काही अंडी घालतात. त्यांतून पिलांचा जन्म होतो. 
वनस्पतींच्या बिया, खोडे, पाने यांपासून वनस्पतींची नवीन रोपे तयार होतात.
सजीवांच्या स्वत:सारखा दुसरा जीव निर्माण करण्याच्या क्रियेला प्रजनन किंवा पुनरुत्पादन म्हणतात.
