This is the Course Overview of Class 7 NCERT History. It contains a brief introduction of all the lessons that have been discussed in this course.

Course Overview : Our Pasts II

In this lesson, we will start have a recap of what we have learnt in Class VI history course. Then we will have a  briefdiscussion on the Changes that took place in the fields of technology, society,kingdoms, etc. Then we will have a look on The Rajput Period, their valour and chivalric code of conduct. And thowards the end, we will have a brief overview of various other empires, languages and religions.

Tracing Changes Through Thousand Years

In this lesson, we will understand the emergence of new dynasties and how non- kshatriya people became rulers and how they got support of brahmanas. Then we will have a discussion on the administration of these newly formed kingdoms, their military and revenue adminstration, the role of brahmanas in their administration, etc. In the later part of the lesson, we will discuss about the wars that were fought for wealth and lastly, we will have a closer look at The Cholas, their art and architecture, agriculture and administration.

New Kings And Kingdoms

In this lesson, we will discuss chronologically about the rulers of our Delhi and then we will come to the Delhi Sultans. We will discuss about the sources that tells us about them and then we will have a look at the expansion of the Delhi Sultanate. We will learn why the Delhi Sultans rose their slaves to power instead of their sons. We will discuss their administration, their architecture, etc.
Then in the later part, we will discuss about Mongols, Alauddin Khalji, Muhammad bin Tugalaq and lastly we will discuss the downfall of the Delhi Sultanate.

The Delhi Sultans

In this lesson, we will learn about the might Mughals, from where did they came, they expanded and so on. We will also have a chronological view over the Mughal Emperors and learn about their tradition of succession. Then we will learn about the relation of Mughals with others including Rajputs. We will learn about the Mansabdari and Jagirdari system., Land revenue system, and have a closer look at Akbar's policies.

The Mughal Dynasty

In this lesson, we will learn about the kinds of buildings built between the period 700-1750 A.D. which includes Palaces, tombs, reservoirs, etc. We will understand the 'engineering skills of construction'. We will learn about the reasons behind building Temples, Mosques and tanks and why they were destroyed. Then in the later parts, we will have a closer look at the Mughal architecture which includes chahar bagh gardens, tombs, river front gardens, and lastly, we will have a discussion on 'style sharing'.

In this lesson, we will lean about the various tribes that existed in the Indian subcontinent at that time. We will have a look at their geographical locations. Then we will learn about the mobile people, I.e., the Nomads, their lifestyle and then , we will learn how some tribal families rose to power and established their own kingdoms and lastly, we will have a closer look at Ahoms and Gonds.

In this lesson , we will have a look at the various types of towns that existed in the Indian subcontinent during the period 700-1750 A.D. then we will shift our focus towards traders and we will learn how the 'trading' led to the establishment of European supremacy in India. Then we will discuss about crafts and craftspersons including blacksmiths, goldsmiths, etc.

In this lesson, we will learn briefly about the various major religions that existed in the Indian subcontinent during 700 - 1750 A.D. We will learn about the Bhakti movement and it's various doctrines, about Islam and Sufism and we will have a closer look at Kabir and Guru Nanak and we will also discuss about the Sikh community and their relation with Mughals in brief.

In this lesson, we will learn the meaning of regional culture. Then we will randomly look at some of the cultures including the development of Malayalam, the Jagannath cult, the Rajputs and Tradition of Heroism, Classical dances, The story of Kathak. We will also learn about the Miniature paintings and lastly we will have a closer look at Bengal

In this lesson we will learn about the dramatic changes that took place in the political sphere in Indian subcontinent, the emergence of new independent states , and the reasons for the downfall of Mughal empire. Then we will closely discuss the various independent states including Hyderabad, Awadh, Bengal , Rajputs, Marathas, Sikhs and Jats
