भारत में अवशेष

भारत में पुरा पाषाण काल के अवशेष तमिलनाडु के कुरनूल, ओडिशा के कुलिआना, राजस्थान के डीडवाना के श्रृंगी तालाब के निकट और मध्य प्रदेश के भीमबेटका में मिलते हैं। इन अवशेषों की संख्या मध्य पाषाण काल के प्राप्त अवशेषों से बहुत कम है।

उच्चपुरापाषाण काल में आद्रता कम हो गयी थी तथा हिमयुग का अंतिम अवस्था थी । इस समय आधुनिक मानव होमोसेपियंस का उदय हुआ। इस काल के औजार अधिक तेज व चमकीले थे। ये औजार हमें आंध्र, कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र, मध्यप्रदेश, दक्षिणी उत्तरप्रदेश और बिहार के पठार में मिले हैं।
