This is the course overview of the DEMOCRATIC POLITICS 10TH NCERT SUMMARY. In this, we discuss about the various topics that are going to be covered and the target audience.

Course Overview : Democratic Politics 10th NCERT (in Hindi)

In this lesson, we start with examples of Belgium and Sri Lanka and try to assess the complex situations there and through them, understand the importance of power sharing. Then we move our focus to different forms of power sharing in which we learn about horizontal and vertical distribution of power and finally we draw our conclusion.

Power Sharing (in Hindi)

In this lesson, we discuss FEDERALISM in detail. We start with its meaning and scope and then move towards coming together and holding together federalisms, we also draw a boundary between unitary and federal government. Then we take our journey to the practice of Federalism in India and see how federal India is. At last we discuss about decentralisation which includes the discussion on Panchayats and Municipalities.

In this lesson, we discuss about the meaning of diversity and how it leads to social differences which eventually lead to inequalities and discrimination.
We also take the examples of Northern Ireland, Yugoslavia as well as the US to understand the points clearly. We discuss about the overlapping and cross cutting differences and how differences provide an opportunity for  the development of a nation.

Democracy and Diversity (in Hindi)

In this lesson, we understand about the actual practice of social inequalities through 3 social differences : Gender , Religion and Caste. We discuss about gender inequalities and the condition of women in India. Then we understand the meaning of Communalism and communal politics, it's pros and cons and then we shift our focus to the very peculiar social difference of the Indian society, i.e., Caste.

In this lesson, we discuss about the new kind of political organisations influencing the government and it's decision making - Pressure groups and Movement groups. Then we start understanding their meaning, nature, distinction and types. We also learn about their importance and features in politics.

Popular Struggles and Movements (in Hindi)

In this lesson, we try to assess the importance and significance of political parties. We raise a very important question as to whether a democracy exist without them or not. We also then discuss the number of political parties a country should have and briefly know about all the 7 national political parties of India and what gives them this status. Then at last we talk about the challenges in front of political parties and how reforming them would solve these issues.

In this lesson, we raise many questions on democracy. We try to assess it's outcomes and it's effectiveness on the grassroot level. Then we take a new approach and test democracy on development parameters like legitimacy, effectiveness, resolution of conflicts, reduction of inequalities, economic development,etc., and see other democracy passes or fails in these tests.

In this lesson, we discuss about the various challenges that democracy faces all around the globe. We discuss about the foundational, expansive as well as deepening challenges to democracy.
