This collection starts by discussing details of the evolution of consumer rights movement and the factors that led to the enactment of the COPRA, it then introduces the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and provides a glimpse into its aims and objectives. The next part deals with the definition of a 'Consumer' under the COPRA. It explains the elements comprising complaints under the COPRA and also lists down the reliefs available under the Act. Then it explains the procedural aspects relating to filing complaints under the COPRA and explains the details of the three-tier structure of consumer forums as per the COPRA and also touches upon jurisdictional aspects. The next part looks at the definition of "service" under the COPRA, how the 'Deficiency of Service' is defined and thereby who can be sued under the provision of the act. The last part of the collection focuses on how 'Deficiency of Service' is defined under the Consumer Protection Act.
