A does 1/2 as much work as B and C does 1/2 as much work as A and B together. If C alone can finish the work in 40 days then together al Wil finish the work in how many days?

C work in : 40 Days
A + B work in : 20 Days
1 day work of A and B = 1/20
Ratio of one day work of A and B = 1:2
one day work of A = 1/20 * 1/3 = 1/60 = 60 days to complete the work.
one day work of B = 1/20 * 2/3 = 1/30 = 30 days to complete the work
A : 60
B : 30
C : 40
LCM = 120
One day work = 2 , 4 , 3
total time = 120 / 9 = 40/3 days

Part of field grazed by 4 goats in 1 day = 1/50
Part of field grazed by 1 goat in 1 day = (1/50) x 4 = 1/200
⇒ 4 g = 6 s [here, g = goats, and s = sheep]
⇒ 1 s = (4/6) g = (2/3) g
Now, 2 g + 9 s = 2 g + 9 x (2/3) g
= 2 g + 6 g = 8 g
∴ 8 goats can graze the field in (1/8) / 200 = 25 days

Sir in 3rd question of type 9, they asked extra days... and 10 includes days from 27th day to 31st day, which has already included. so to find extra days we need to substract that 4 days?

Abhishek Pandey

no extra days are x
we have to find that value of x

Mayank jain

Means we have to find days after 27th day?

In type 6, how can decide whether we have to assume 100 or 'x'?
like for question no. 1-4 you have assumed 100 and for question 5 you assumed it to be 'x'.
Can you please explain.

whenever they will give time difference assume x otherwise 100.

Navya Arunachala

In case we take it as b=100, how to solve?

Abhishek Pandey

solve this questions as x because this 100 will create lot of confusion.

A+B=18
B+C=24
A+C=36
In how many days B alone can finish the work??

total work = 72
by same method
one day work :
A+B = 4
B+C = 3
A + C = 2
add these equations =
2(A+B+C) = 9
A+B+C = 4.5
subtract equation 3
B = 4.5 - 2 = 2.5 (one day work)
total day = 72/2.5 = 144/5 day

1998 Nonu

Why 2(a+b+c)??

1998 Nonu

Got it! Thankyou very much sir!

Sir can you please elaborate again

Abhishek Pandey

just read the solution once again
because A B C 2 baar likha hua hai islie 2(A+B+C) aaega.
baki sab same method se krna hai.

1998 Nonu

Par 72/2.5 =144/5 how?

Abhishek Pandey

72/2.5
point hata do = 720/25
5 se cut kr do = 144/5
