COMMISSIONER FOR LINGISTIC MINORTIES: The designation of the special officer (assisted by deputy and assistant commissioner. Headquarters: Allahabad( Uttar Pradesh) Regional offices: Belgaum(Karnataka),Chennai(Tamil Nadu),Kolkata(West Bengal) RC headed by Assistant commissioner. o Centre: under ministry of minority affairs(therefore submits report through union minority affairs minster)
ROLE All matters related to grievances from non- implementations of Constitutional and Nationally agreed scheme of safeguards.(recommends remedial action) Promote and preserve linguistic minority groups. Commissioner launched a 10 POINT PROGRAMME.
FUNCTIONS Investigate matters related to safeguards Submit report to President on status of implementation of safeguards. Monitor implementation through questionnaires visits, seminars and meetings etc
